Garfield County

We had no idea what God had in mind for this journey! Because of our new friends, we were able to visit two more counties today than we expected! So, with one additional night out, we will be able to visit three additional counties on the way home. Garfield County is number eight on this prayer strike, as we are nearing completion of our Prayerwalk Colorado assignment. God, You are SO, SO GOOD! This trip has been over a beautiful part of Colorado, and Garfield county is no exception. God also had an additional favorite gift just for me- WATER! Wait till you see all the river pictures… but, I’m getting ahead of myself!

I will first share a bit about this green, lush county we are about to embark upon. Garfield County was named after our twentieth president, James Garfield. Two beautiful rivers come together at the County Seat of Glenwood Springs: the Colorado and the Roaring Fork Rivers. Garfield County is also home to Monarch Pass. Located on the Continental Divide, Monarch Pass has an elevation of 11,312 feet, and is one of the highest passes in the United States. I can say that Monarch Pass is very beautiful and quite breathtaking, and I would not want to venture into that pass in the wintertime! Below you will see my introduction to this beautiful county.

Jim and Pam knew of this secludeed hideaway and knew we would love the riverview. They were so right! We had a bit of a rocky climb to get down to the riverside but it was worth it. Tony and Jim prepared the opening for our offerings while Melody, Pam and I enjoyed the view! It’s not only a precious time of worship and celebration of the Lord and His beauty, it’s a heart grabbing time for us to be doing this here in this place.

As we placed our altar into the ground, we asked again for God to send Holy Spirit Fire over Garfield County, beginning with the Church. Lord God, we pray again here, that You will bind us together in perfect unity according to Your Word, not according to the world. We declare Jereimah 10:6-7 over Garfield County and we worship You. The sound of the rushing water so close to us, reminds us of the rushing sound of Your voice and Your beauty. It’s so soothing to sit and hear the river, as though it were just washing Your love over us, again and again. Sparkling royalty, beautiful music. The water reminds us of the Living Water- You, Jesus. We thank You for Your Holy Spirit, as we pour the water and oil over our offerings.

“THERE IS NONE LIKE YOU OH LORD! YOU ARE GREAT, AND GREAT IS YOUR NAME IN MIGHT. WHO WOULD NOT FEAR YOU, OH KING OF THE NATIONS? INDEED IT IS YOUR DUE! FOR AMONG ALL THE WISE MEN OF THE NATIONS AND IN ALL THEIR KINGDOMS, THERE IS NONE LIKE YOU!” (JEREMIAH 10: 6-7).

When we come to communion time, every time, we know we are on Holy Ground. When we remember what You did on that day, and how Your blood streamed down onto the ground, for us- a price You paid that You did not owe- we share the remembrance and the emblems together and place part of them into the ground on our offerings. We remember Your blood poured out of You and onto the ground, an offering You gave freely to us. You love us that much. Thank You, Lord Jesusl. We love You too.

Now, the sealing. We worship You, Oh Lord. We give You the praise and honor and glory that You deserve. We sing, we praise, we thank You for Who You are. We love You, and we come together as one in Garfield County to declare Your Name above all other names here, and all across Colorado. For if we don’t, even the rocks will cry out. They don’t need to, Lord. We will!
