Colorado.

As I began to write our final post on Denver, the final chapter of our Prayerwalk Colorado journey, I began to contemplate all we have been able to see and do here. Yes, Denver is the rightful place in Colorado to have completed our journey, but this has been so much more to us than “completing 64 counties”. Colorado is our home, and very dear to us. It seems fitting to remember in wonder a few remarkable characteristics of this great state, the things we have been able to experience here and the places we have gone. The more I contemplated Colorado, the more it seemed fitting to write a “summary post”, a kind of tribute to our great state. So, here are a few final thoughts on Colorado, as we pray for God to be glorified here. Let Colorado be a lighthouse to America, shining His glory and worth. Contemplate with me, when you look around you, how anyone could miss seeing His majesty in every mountain, lake, and natural wonder all around us. Open your eyes and see with me, Psalm 19:1-4.

Colorado.

Mount Elbert. Elevation 14,400 feet, the highest summit of the Rocky Mountains, the highest point right here- in Colorado, and the second highest summit in America, second only to Mt Whitney.

Colorado.

Home to more than 15 separate mountain ranges, including 54 “Fourteeners”- peaks towering above 14,000 feet. Mount Elbert, 14,400 feet. Mount Lincoln, 14,286 feet. Pikes Peak, 14,115 feet- just to name a few.

Colorado.

The Rocky Mountains. Stretching 3000 miles from North Canada into New Mexico, these are some of the largest mountains in the world. But, of the 100 highest peaks in the Rocky Mountain Range, 78 of them reside right here- in Colorado.

Colorado.

Trail Ridge Road, 12,183 feet, the highest continuous road in the country. Cottonwood Pass, 12,126 feet. Berthoud Pass, 11,307 feet. We drove across that one twice. Million Dollar Highway to the Summit of Red Mountain Pass, 11,018 feet. Yes, the Durango- Silverton train ride is breathtaking. I won’t list all the passes over 10,000 feet. There are over 40 of them.

Colorado.

More than 107,000 miles of rivers. More than 4,000 lakes and reservoirs, Blue Mesa being the largest. Wildlife includes Bighorn Sheep, elk, moose, bison- I won’t list all the species. There are over 900 of them.

Colorado.

Filled with people who know and love and honor Him- Jesus our Lord. Filled with people who aren’t sure if He is real. Filled with people who don’t yet believe. Yet, filled with people wildly in love with Yahweh, who dance for Him, sing to Him and dedicate their lives to Him. Filled with people we got to meet, worship with and marvel at our Creator with. People who know His beauty and who shine Him to everybody who will look. Their stories are in these pages.

Colorado.

How anyone could drive across this land and not see there is an amazing Creator God who made all this- and loves all of us- is beyond my scope of understanding. I want to say that we are beyond grateful that our God has not only allowed us to go to every state in America and pray over every Capitol, but to go to/ pray over every county in our home state- Colorado, and meet the most amazing lovers of our God. As you read these words from every county, worship our loving and majestic Creator God with us, and give Him the glory due His Name!

PSALM 19:1-4: “THE HEAVENS ARE TELLING THE GLORY OF GOD, AND THEIR EXPANSE IS DECLARING THE WORK OF HIS HANDS. DAY TO DAY POURS FORTH SPEECH, AND NIGHT TO NIGHT REVEALS KNOWLEDGE. THERE IS NO SPEECH, THERE ARE NO WORDS, THEIR VOICE IS NOT HEARD; BUT THER SOUND HAS GONE OUT TO ALL THE EARTH AND THEIR UTTERANCES TO THE END OF THE WORLD. IN THEM HE HAS MADE A TENT FOR THE SUN.”
